Venice. Midday sun.

Oil/Canvas 90 X 60

Venice compels one to be in love, to kiss, to wander in embrace and to most definitely get lost in the maze of quaint little streets. Foreground presents the vividly captured time-worn and seasoned masonry of the walls being lit by sunlight, petite balconies adorned with geraniums, windows and their shutters. Surface of the water reflects both the clouds and buildings, lures the eye towards one the most iconic structures in the world - St Mark's Campanile. The goal was to depict the ancient majesty of Venetian architecture. The painting does not require a frame, since all the side facets of the canvas are painted with the background colour.
